Treatment and Care

This module provides information about treatment and care of drug use disorders (DUD) and opioid overdose prevention and management and lists relevant guidelines and other knowledge products for the use of policymakers, healthcare providers and other key actors in the management of opioid overdose. The management and treatment of drug use disorders need to be supported by adequate policies and practices following a systematic, intersectoral and multidisciplinary response to a very complex problem affecting large segments of the world’s population and ensure the involvement and active participation of public governmental institutions, universities, treatment centres, civil society organizations and prevention and health professionals. The tools and resources provided in this module promote and support the achievement of Sustainable Development Goal 3.5 on strengthening substance use prevention and treatment and related goals as part of the Sustainable Development Agenda 2030.

For more information on the prevention of drug use disorders, please see the specialized Toolkit module on prevention.
