Estimating world requirements

Guide on Estimating Requirements for Substances under International Control

To assist governments in the preparation of their estimates, INCB, together with WHO, developed a practical guide which aims to support competent national authorities in the identification of the actual requirements for internationally controlled drugs to overcome underconsumption and, at the same time, prevent overconsumption.

Estimated World Requirements of Narcotic Drugs in Grams

The International Narcotics Control Board provides totals of estimates of annual medical and scientific requirements for narcotic drugs listed in Schedules I and II of the 1961 Single Convention on Narcotic Drugs, as amended by the 1972 Protocol Amending the Single Convention.
The totals of the estimates enable parties to determine the maximum quantity of drugs that a State may acquire under the 1961 Convention through import and/or manufacture. These totals are updated monthly.

Psychotropic assessments in Grams

Assessments of annual medical and scientific requirements for substances listed in Schedules II, III and IV of the 1971 Convention on Psychotropic Substances are published by INCB on a weekly basis to ensure that competent authorities have the most up to date information, which in turn facilitates trade in controlled psychotropics.
