An efficient supply chain is needed to ensure access to quality-assured medicines and to prevent the use of medicines that are substandard or falsified.

 

 

Shortages of medicines including controlled medicines are reported in a number of countries where quantification and supply chain management are sub-optimal. WHO has developed an early warning system tool to prevent shortages.
